Printmaking
While oil painting was a revelation, printmaking felt like a discovery. When I got to college, printmaking was an entirely foreign concept to me. I was never exposed to prints and didn’t know the fundamentals or intricacies of the medium. It is a multi-layered and meticulous process that engaged me from the very beginning. I felt like a scientist and loved learning how to correctly implement each stage of the process. Each new technique required diligent note taking and it incorporated both elements of graphic design and painting with the conscientious use of design principles and color theory using physical mediums.
